"Geography is the subject which holds the key to our future."Michael Palin
At Westbury Park, we aim to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
As pupils progress throughout the school, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments.
Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
We hope to inspire children to become passionate about the world they live in, to want to protect it and learn about it and to feel a sense of amazement at the incredible wonders that our planet has to offer.
Youth Design Challenge
In the summer of 2020, our Year 5 children
entered a competition....
"In Geography, we designed a place were children can learn about the harm that cotton can do to the environment. We drew a picture of a room that was to help others understand the damage that cotton can do to earth.
We drew posters and labelled them. Now professional designers are going to look at the winners drawing and include them in the actual design.
Some children from our school won!"
