History

私たちのビジョン

At Westbury Park we inspire in pupils a curiosity about and fascination for the world around them. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that they gain knowledge and understanding of Britain's past, as well as that of the wider world. As children progress through the school, they build their chronological understanding - first by learning about the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, and Roman Britain in lower key stage 2, before studying the lives of the Tudors and Victorians. Alongside a body of knowledge which covers the national curriculum, we also aim to equip children to become citizens of a complex world, able to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.

What do the children say?

私たちのビジョン

"When we learn about History, we learn about so much. We learn about the people and how they lived; we learn about key events; we learn about buildings. I like learning about British History, especially Kings and Queens."

"I love it when we look at sources. When we learn about events, we look at photos, maps and read interviews from people who were there so that we get a full picture."

"In Year 1, we learnt about explorers! I want to be an explorer when I grow up because you can go all around the world and find new things that people will learn about in the future!"
