There is a sound partnership with parents and carers which promotes effective communication regarding children’s well-being. The setting has a good reputation locally. A parent of a 5 yr old commented, ‘having friends of different ages makes my child more confident and independent’.
Senior staff have knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and are part of a training network for ongoing development
Children contribute to the planning of topics and ideas are often linked to work done in the reception class, for example art and craft activities.
Children are involved in strategic decision making, being given their ‘voice’ as to who they would like to choose for their new play leader for instance.
Outdoor activities are enjoyed in the large playground, with a range of equipment for all ages. Team games are especially popular, encouraging team spirit and good exercise.
There is a strong sense of belonging in a friendly club community. As one parent commented, ‘it’s a home from home, they don’t want to leave’
We create an environment in which children are safe from abuse and in which any suspicion of abuse is promptly and appropriately responded to. We will comply with local and national child protection procedures and ensure that all staff are appropriately trained.

Arrival and departure
Children in Key Stage 2 come independently to Stay & Play Those in Reception and Key Stage 1 are taken from their classroom by a member of staff. A register is taken each morning and afternoon and a signing-out sheet is used.
If your child attends an after school club before going to Stay & Play Please ensure you inform Stay & Play Staff which club it is and what time it finishes.
Children should always be collected by a named adult. In exceptional circumstances when it is not possible for your child to be collected by a named person, a password system will be adopted.
If you are delayed for whatever reason please telephone the club to let us know.
Additional fees may be charged for late collection of children from Afterschool and Holiday Clubs.
Children and staff have created rules for behaviour whilst at the club. These are displayed for children to see.
The club also operates a behaviour policy which is summarised here:
Children are expected to respect each other, staff and visitors.
Staff will encourage an atmosphere of care and consideration between all members of the club including children, staff and visitors.
Stay & Play aims to encourage appropriate behaviour through: praise for good behaviour; emphasis on co-operative play and sharing; talking to children with the courtesy that we expect from them and engaging children in activities
Stay & Play will not tolerate from any member: bullying; aggressive, confrontational or threatening behaviour; or behaviour intended to result in conflict.
The club has procedures for dealing with unacceptable behaviour. In the case of violence or behaviour that poses an immediate danger a child is required to be collected directly; as an ultimate sanction, the child may be excluded from the club. Stay & Play recognises that poor behaviour can occur from time to time for reasons that are not always evident. It will strive to be flexible in order to accommodate such cases.
We are unable to care for children who are unwell.
Please inform the manager of any infectious illness your child contracts. If your child has had sickness or diarrhoea please do not send him/her to the club for 48 hours after the illness has ceased.
Accidents and First Aid
Every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of the children at all times and the club is fully insured. Several of our staff are trained in first aid and a first aid kit is kept on the premises. We operate an accident procedure and fire drills are carried out regularly. Link with school health and safety policy
